Despair & Light

There’s a wonderful statement in Pilgrim’s Progress about Giant Despair. This is it.

In the sunshine Giant Despair loses the use of his hands.

That’s a good point. I don’t know about you, but my demons almost always come in the night. Three o’clock in the morning, I fight the demon of fear and despair. When it’s dark, I feel so helpless and alone.

But when the sun comes up, I can handle anything. It’s not a surprise that one of the names for Jesus is the Light of the World. You see the Son is the sun, the light makes all the difference.
