I have a lawyer friend who said to me recently, Steve, how can you tell the difference between a lawyer and God?

I allowed that I didn’t know. And he said, because God doesn’t think he’s a lawyer.

Do you know why atheists are atheist? It’s because if there’s a God, that means they can’t be him. At the heart of almost all worldviews, that’s the issue. It’s called the desire for autonomy.

I walked that road for a while, but messed it up so terribly that I decided that there must be somebody bigger and better than I am, there is. Now, I don’t have to be God, and that’s a relief.
