There was an old satirical television commercial that showed a pristine and beautiful wilderness setting and a voice that said what a beautiful place let’s develop it.

If we aren’t careful religion can be like that, God’s Spirit moves in our hearts and we’re forgiven and loved. And then others are touched, then instead of laughing and dancing, we build a religious empire.

I’m not a against religious empires, but you have to be careful. If you forget about the genuine experience, sometimes Jesus leaves the building, then you have a boring religion without the laughter.
